New page

The '''SPY''' command deploys one spy from the current ship to infiltrate the planet it is orbiting. It does not immediately scan the planet or generate an intelligence report. See [[Spies]] for counterespionage, report timing, accuracy, and the classic attack-report bug.

== Syntax ==
<syntaxhighlight lang="text">
SPY
</syntaxhighlight>

== Requirements ==
The ship must be in stationary orbit around a planet and carry at least one spy. The command refuses the player's own planet and Galactic Command in the neutral sector. A wormhole cannot be orbited as a planet for this purpose.

On success, the game removes one spy from the ship, saves the player's User-ID as the planet's infiltrator, and reports that the operative is being transported. There is no immediate infiltration roll: detection and reserve reports are checked on later planet updates. The deployed operative cannot be recalled.

The planet has just one infiltrator-owner field. Repeating <code>SPY</code> on the same planet still uses another shipboard spy but does not add a second operative or improve the first one's odds. Another player's deployment replaces the previous infiltrator. For the separate role of spies stocked ''on'' a planet, see [[Spies#Infiltrators and planetary stock|Spies]].

This command is disabled in ge-arena.
