New page

'''The WABAC Machine''' is a BBS running DOS Worldgroup 2.0, located at
bbs.ccsnet.com
; it can be accessed via [telnet://bbs.ccsnet.com/ Telnet] and a [http://bbs.ccsnet.com/ web interface]. The board sysop is Joe Cronin. In 2024, Anthony Schmidt and Joe Cronin came to agreement that WABAC would be the exclusive home of [[ge-next]] test builds and beta testing. Complete release versions of ge-next are released publicly and are available on other boards as well as WABAC. See [[Where to play online]] for the current listing.

Its game menu includes ge-next and classic ''Galactic Empire''. The web interface also contains a web frontend for ge-next (written by Cronin) as well as way to check who's currently online without logging in.

If you're looking for a place to play Galactic Empire, consider WABAC. It has the most active player community, the latest versions of ge-next and ge-arena, along with classic GE, and most of the participants on the [https://discord.gg/SqhYmZvWsn ge-next Discord] have accounts there.

== ge-next testing history ==
The screenshots below preserve results from public ge-next testing periods on WABAC.

== ge-next 0.1 test ==
From approximately October 2024 through January 2025, ManicPop, Oliver, and Archwiki tested ge-next 0.1. Oliver won the test game, and ManicPop made him this lovely certificate.

== ge-next 0.2 test ==
The primary ge-next 0.2 test ran from June 25 through October 1, 2025.

The 0.2-era game remained available afterward. This was its final roster when it was decommissioned on April 26, 2026:

== Scope ==
These were development and playtesting games, not official tournaments. Their value is as a record of the community that exercised early ge-next releases and exposed gameplay and compatibility issues before later releases.
