The Enforcer Planet is the default third planet in sector 0 0. It can be scanned and orbited like a planet, but it does not independently patrol, aim, or attack. Its warnings, punishment, and projectile interceptions are performed by game routines that present them as actions of the Enforcer Planet.

Neutral-zone enforcement

In classic GE, the game periodically broadcasts the Enforcer Planet's neutral-zone beacon. A ship that tries a prohibited hostile action, such as firing phasers in sector 0 0, can be struck by an energy beam and take structural damage. The punishment is applied directly to the ship by the relevant game routine, not by an autonomous planet. The precise restrictions depend on the weapon or action; see Neutral zone and the relevant command article.

ge-next 0.2.4 added interception of incoming torpedoes and missiles that are pursuing a ship inside sector 0 0. (Ships cannot be fired upon while inside the neutral zone, but can travel to the neutral zone after weapons have been fired at them.) During the target ship's update, an incoming projectile is removed if its remaining tracked distance is less than 5,000 distance units. The projectile is tracked on the target rather than moving as an independent object, so this is a check against its remaining distance to the target, not its distance from the Enforcer Planet.

The Enforcer Planet is not a maintenance depot. Zygor and Tahanian Station provide the standard Galactic Command services in sector 0 0.

ge-arena

ge-arena uses Enforcer Planet hails for match announcements, including staging and combat countdowns. During staging, the neutral-zone fire restrictions apply, and attempts to leave sector 0 0 are repelled. After combat begins, those staging restrictions are lifted, including projectile interception in 0 0. The hailing format is a broadcast voice for the arena; not every announced event is a physical attack by the planet.

The planet's default name, owner, position, and other properties are configured among the predefined sector 0 0 objects. See Galaxy configuration.
