ge-next NPC ship classes

ge-next ships five Cybertron classes and six Droid classes in MPOGESHP.MSG. Cybertrons are automated combatants; Droid is the code's umbrella for other NPCs, including traders and armed Sarten craft. ge-next gives those classes faction codes and class-specific behavior rather than treating every non-player ship as the same opponent. See Ships, Cybertrons, and Droids for gameplay context.

Shield and phaser values are maximum Marks for the class, not necessarily what an individual NPC has installed. Configured count is the requested population; it is constrained by NPC slots and game state.

Cybertron classes

# Class Name prefix Shield / phaser max Warp Scan Kill pts DAMF Configured count
21 Cyber-Interceptor Cybertron 1x 4 / 4 10 100,000 1,000 100 8
22 Cyber-Destroyer Cybertron 2x 6 / 6 15 150,000 2,000 175 6
23 Cyber-Base Cybertron Bx 16 / 16 0 200,000 30,000 475 1
24 Cyber-Cruiser Cybertron 4x 8 / 8 25 200,000 5,000 300 4
25 Cyber-Dreadnought Cybertron 8x 10 / 10 40 250,000 10,000 425 1

The Cyber-Base has zero rated warp and zero acceleration, so it remains at its assigned location.

Class Torpedo / missile launchers Other systems Acceleration Cargo (tons) Lowest target class Toughness
Cyber-Interceptor 1 / 0 None 5,000 5,000 0 0
Cyber-Destroyer 2 / 0 mines, decoys 10,000 20,000 5 1

Cyber-Cruiser 3 / 1 mines, decoys, jammers, zippers 2,000 30,000 8 2
Cyber-Dreadnought 3 / 3 mines, decoys, jammers, zippers 3,000 100,000 10 3

Toughness in ge-next

The table's toughness value is a 0–4 NPC AI setting, not a durability score. DAMF controls how incoming damage is scaled; toughness chiefly changes how often an NPC can act and which offensive or defensive choices it makes. For Cybertrons engaged with a player, higher values shorten the randomized delay before the next action. A higher value also raises the chance of firing ready phasers, launching torpedoes or missiles, and using a zipper when the other requirements are met. Missile charge increases with toughness: the AI requests 4,000 per missile at level 0 and 20,000 at level 4. Cybertrons above level 1 can use the missile-avoidance routine, provided they can move. These are chances and eligibility rules, not guaranteed attacks; ammunition, equipment, position, and other checks still apply.

Toughness also influences a Cybertron's starting gold: lower-level ships tend toward the lower end of the configured range and higher-level ships toward the upper end. For NPC-on-NPC phaser hits, it sets the cap on hull damage from a single large hit; it does not directly increase damage against players. Droid routines use the same class field differently: among other effects, higher toughness can shorten engaged update delays and increase the chance of an equipped Droid firing phasers or attempting torpedoes. A Droid without a relevant weapon does not gain one from toughness alone. These rules differ from classic GE's binary Cybertron-only toughness setting.

Droid classes

# Class Name prefix Shield / phaser max Warp Scan Kill pts DAMF Configured count
31 Lydorian Garbage Scow NCC Lx5 1 / 0 0 20,000 5 90 2
32 Murdonian Transport Trans-Gal #3 4 / 10 8 50,000 200 150 4
33 Vakory Survey Drone Vakory SD-86 1 / 1 4 25,000 50 100 2
34 Sarten Civil Transport SCTx7 8 / 6 10 50,000 200 175 3
35 Sarten Defense Drone SDDx2 6 / 10 50 250,000 100 225 2
36 Galactic Command Freighter Zygor- 12 / 10 25 150,000 500 400 4

The Sarten ships are Droids in ge-next, unlike their Cybertron-type placement in classic GE. The Galactic Command Freighter belongs to the Zygorian faction.

Class Torpedo / missile launchers Other systems Acceleration Cargo (tons) Lowest target class Toughness
Lydorian Garbage Scow 0 / 0 None 50 10,000 0 0
Murdonian Transport 0 / 0 None 1,000 50,000 0 2
Vakory Survey Drone 2 / 0 mines, jammers 1,000 500 0 1
Sarten Civil Transport 0 / 0 decoys, jammers 5,000 10,000 0 1
Sarten Defense Drone 3 / 0 mines, zippers 500 1,000 8 2
Galactic Command Freighter 3 / 0 decoys, jammers, zippers 5,000 500,000 0 3

ge-next records torpedo and missile launcher counts rather than classic's capability flags. The other-system column lists class permissions, not the NPC's current ammunition. Lowest target class and toughness influence AI behavior; they are not player-facing ranks. NPC price fields are ignored as NPCs are not purchasable. See NPC slot allocation for why configured counts and actual ships can differ.

Use in ge-arena

The stock ge-arena modes use the same class chassis values for these named Cybertrons but assign their own starting equipment and NPC counts. Battle and King have no Cybertrons in the shipped roster.

Mode Stock NPC classes
Battle None
Hoard Cyber-Interceptor, Cyber-Destroyer, Cyber-Cruiser
King None
Base Cyber-Base
Scored Cyber-Interceptor, Cyber-Destroyer, Cyber-Cruiser

No Droid classes are in the stock arena modes. An admin may change the arena class table.
