View source for Classic bug record format

A classic bug record should answer enough questions that another developer can independently reproduce, understand, and correct the defect.

== Required structure ==
<syntaxhighlight lang="text">{{Classic bug
|id=GE-BUG-000
|affected=Classic 3.2e
|status=Verified in source
|fixed=ge-next version or “Not fixed in classic”
|source=FILE.C, function()
}}

== Reproduction ==
== Cause ==
== Correction ==
== Compatibility notes ==
== Verification ==</syntaxhighlight>

Bug IDs describe records, not severity. A record may document a harmless display defect, a gameplay exploit, memory corruption, or a porting hazard.
