GE3D is Michael Scur's experimental graphical client for ge-next. It presents a three-dimensional bridge view, sector map, ship instruments, and a terminal view. It is a frontend to a running game, not a replacement GE server.
Compatibility: GE3D targets ge-next's DATA interface. It is not a client for classic GE. Consult the GE3D project and README for its current status and setup instructions.
How it connects
The client reads structured game information through ge-next's DATA interface and sends normal player commands back to the game. It uses a bridge between the browser interface and the BBS connection. A ge-next sysop must enable frontend access through the FRONTEND configuration option; the default is off. The project README describes both unrestricted access and a pairing-code arrangement. A client cannot reveal data that the game does not provide through its interface.
The README describes GE3D as a prototype tested locally with ge-next and MBBSEmu. Its repository is the place to check for newer compatibility details, requirements, and downloads.
