The CLS command clears the terminal display without changing any game state.
Syntax
CLS
It takes no arguments. The command is available in classic Galactic Empire, ge-next, and ge-arena. ge-arena also accepts it while the player is in the arena lobby.
Terminal behavior
Classic sends the ANSI erase-display sequence. The classic help describes this simply as clearing the screen using ANSI characters. The exact cursor position afterward can depend on the terminal's interpretation of that sequence.
ge-next sends both an ANSI erase-display sequence and an explicit cursor-home sequence, leaving the cursor at the upper-left corner. Neither implementation redisplays game information after clearing the terminal.
The command has no effect on the ship, current prompt state, scanner data, or messages stored by the game. It only changes what is visible on the player's terminal.
