Utilities

Utilities are player-side tools for connecting to, controlling, or displaying Galactic Empire. They are separate from the in-game command reference and server configuration. Check the compatibility notes: a classic-only utility should not be assumed to work with ge-next.

Terminal clients and input

• RLTELNET.SH and rlwrap — download the shell wrapper for Telnet command history and editing on MajorBBS/Worldgroup or MBBSEmu.
• Creating a keymap — a GE-oriented keyboard macro guide using dtelnet.
• Running Galactic Empire with MBBSEmu — instructions for running a local game and connecting to it.

Graphical frontends and maps

• GECP — graphical control panel for classic GE only.
• MBMGEMAP — historical DOS starmap extractor and viewer for classic GE only; a ge-next/modern-platform reworking is planned.
• GE3D — experimental 3D frontend for ge-next.
• Data command — ge-next's structured data interface used by compatible frontends.
