Tahanian Station is the default second planet in sector 0 0. It is Galactic Command's embarkation and colony-supply station: the intended source of men, food, and troops for players establishing and defending planets. Like Zygor, it is a predefined planet record that can be scanned and orbited, but its stock is maintained by special rules rather than ordinary colony production.

Colony supplies

The classic builder gives Tahanian Station 1,032,000 each of men, food, and troops, marks only those three categories for sale, and prices them at twice their configured base prices. Later planetary update passes replace those three quantities with 1,032,000 and recalculate their prices as twice the base price plus a random amount below it. BUY checks the station's recorded available quantity, but purchases in sector 0 0 do not subtract from that quantity in either classic or ge-next. The next scheduled pass resets the stock and prices; it is not a refill triggered by individual sales.

That three-item market was originally distinct from Zygor's hardware market. Classic's later change to restock every item category at Zygor inadvertently also makes these colony supplies purchasable there after Zygor's first update. The original division remains visible in classic help text and the two planets' initial inventories, but not consistently in the running classic market. See Zygor for the full cause and its connection to the attempted starvation fix.

ge-next restores a clear inventory distinction in the station's special update: it first makes all categories unavailable, then stocks only men, food, and troops for sale, each at the maximum representable 32-bit unsigned quantity. Prices are refreshed from the configured base prices on scheduled planet passes. Zygor also stocks these items in ge-next, so Tahanian Station is a dedicated source, not an exclusive one. The station cannot accept a player's SELL command; that service is provided at Zygor.

Services and protection

The station can perform ship maintenance for an eligible ship in orbit. In standard ge-next, both Tahanian Station and Zygor charge the configured central-sector maintenance amount; ordinary owned planets use their separate, lower amount. The ship must still meet the command's cash, combat, and other requirements. The station is within the Neutral zone, so sector-wide restrictions on hostile actions apply, but the station itself is not an autonomous defender. The Enforcer Planet is the game's voice for those rules.

The default name, configured owner, location, environment, and resources are set with the other predefined sector 0 0 objects. The special inventory and maintenance behavior follows its position as planet number 2, not merely the displayed name. It is not a normal player-administered colony.

Classic and ge-next update paths

Classic can run ordinary population and food processing on the station before it applies the three-item restock. The restock occurs after that processing; ordinary BUY transactions cannot deplete its food, but the station is still subject to the old food checks before the special reset. ge-next bypasses that ordinary production/starvation path for Tahanian Station and applies only its dedicated restock. Its planet record still receives the normal ge-next update timestamp, but it does not store the global scheduler interval or nebula seed; those roles belong to Zygor's record.

ge-arena

ge-arena uses Tahanian Station as the setting for its lobby. Players choose a match mode, prepare to play, or observe there. This lobby is separate from the persistent game's food-and-colonist market: arena planets start without classic or ge-next market inventory, and there is no planetary economy or scheduled restock between matches.
