Shi = shields this type of ship has

Pha = phaser this type of ship has

Tor = has torpedo capability

Mis = has missile capability

Dec = has decoy capability

Jam = has jammer capability

Zip = has zipper capability

Mine = has mine capability

Atck = can launch planetary attacks (CPU ships can't do this regardless of settings)

Clo = has cloaking capability

Acc = acceleration rate (how quickly ship speeds up and slows down)

Warp = top warp speed (when not at hyperwarp)

Tons = maximum weight ship can hold

Scan = range of scanner in parsecs (100k means 10 sectors in any direction), the long range scanner is 10x this value

Pts = points awarded for destroying a ship of this type

User = lowest user ship class this CPU will pursue (for example, 5 means it'll only come after a user in a Star Cruiser or higher numbered ship, except for the Freight Barge which is set to CYB = N)

Make = the maximum amount of this ship that can exist at the same time

Tough = 0 for stupid, 1 for smart (TO DO: look into the actual difference)

Dmg = damage effect factor (100 is "normal," lower numbers mean ship is more fragile, higher numbers mean ship is more resilient)

All CPU ships are defined with a price of 20000, but since they can't be purchased this is never used.

Hyperwarp

In order to keep CPU ships close to human players, combative CPU ships that are (by default, this can be adjusted) more than 25 sectors away from a human player they are pursuing will travel at "hyperwarp," which is 20 times the normal CPU ship's speed. They will drop back down to normal speeds when they are within 10 sectors. When scanning a ship traveling at hyperwarp, the scan will read "Hyper," masking the actual speed[1].
